The Ranshofen Light Metal Days conference is a well-established forum bringing together industry professionals, researchers, and academics to exchange knowledge, foster collaboration, and drive innovation within the light metals sector.

The Ranshofen Light Metal Days offer industry leaders and researchers a unique opportunity to present and discuss current challenges faced by the light metals industry as it bridges applied research towards applications and their impact on economy and society. With increasing demands on sustainability, circularity, and resource efficiency, the conference provides a timely platform for advancing solutions that will shape the future of light metal technologies.

This year’s conference is held under the topical umbrella “Economical, Sustainable & Resilient Lightweighting: Circular Design and Smart Processes”.

The conference will be hosted by LKR Leichtmetallkompetenzzentrum Ranshofen (Light Metals Technologies Ranshofen), Austria’s leading applied research institute in light alloys and their processing technologies. LKR is a subsidiary of AIT Austrian Institute of Technology, Austria’s largest RTO.

CONFERENCE SCOPE

The Ranshofen Light Metal Days focus on recent scientific and technological developments related to the design, processing, and manufacturing of light metal materials, as well as their successful translation into commercial applications. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Aluminium, magnesium, and titanium; Alloy development and characterization

  • Advanced manufacturing and processing technologies

  • Materials used in challenging environments

  • Sustainability, circularity, and resilience

  • Recycling technological and material aspects

  • Industrial applications and use cases

  • Artificial intelligence in light metals research and industry

CONFERENCE FORMAT

The conference will feature:

  • Technical and scientific presentations by leading experts from science and industry

  • Poster session designed to provide insights into ongoing projects of recent relevance

  • Networking opportunities intentionally embedded into the program to facilitate knowledge exchange, collaboration, and the formation of valuable industry–academic partnerships

ABOUT THE CONFERENCE SERIES

The Ranshofen Light Metal Days conference is organized biannually by LKR Leichtmetallkompetenzzentrum Ranshofen of AIT Austrian Institute of Technology since the year 2000 and is especially well-known in the DACH area (Germany, Austria, Switzerland). In 2026, it will for the first time be held entirely in English – creating a long-awaited opportunity for international participants to fully engage and exchange ideas. Researchers and industry experts are invited to submit their contributions and participate in the conference – a key event for shaping the future of light metal technologies.
